Christmas ornament making

Christmas time in St. Croix Virgin Islands is filled with so many activities for young and old. The Christmas festivities begins in December and ends after Three Kings Day which is January 6th. One event that is most memorable for the young is the Christmas Ornament making that takes place at the University of the Virgin Islands. This event is held through the 4-H program. This year it took place on Sunday December 11 2016. We had a total of 9 tables set up with many different kid friendly ornaments suitable for kids age’s eight years old and older. For kids that was under the age of 8 they had the help from their parents and other volunteers. Each child had the opportunity to sit at each table and make his/her ornament. One ornament is donated to the giving tree at the end of the event. My son who has been making ornaments from the age of 1year old has taken part every year. He made all of the ornaments and was excited to share his ornaments with you all shown below. My parents has been a big supporter and volunteered their time to the 4-H program over the years. My three brothers along with my self has been involved with the program from the age of five so it has become a family ritual. Now that I am an adult and a mother my son also became a 4-H member. Many thanks to Linda Morland “Daily News” photographer who was also a 4-H volunteer throughout the years captured a picture that was posted in the newspaper. Merry Christmas
